Philodendron squamiferum makes a statement in any room! This easy-growing houseplant shows off dark green leaves with deep, monstera-like lobes and red petioles (leaf stems) that have a decidedly fuzzy texture. It is grown and shipped fresh from our farm direct to your front door.
Because it grows like a vine as it matures, it’s best to give your Philodendron squamiferum a support, such as totem or moss pole, on which to climb.
Can climb more than 6 feet tall over time.
If you're a fan of the large-lobed leaves of monstera species, this plant might bring them to mind. Mature vining Philodendron squamiferum often have large dark green, textual foliage that grows up to 18 inches long. The hairy stems, known as petioles, develop a red hue once they mature, and this is where the plant gets its common name: the red bristle philodendron.
PLANT CARE
- Light: Place in bright, indirect light
- Water: Water when at least the top half of soil feels dry -- this Philodendron doesn't respond well to overwatering
- Considerations: Use a well-draining, chunky soil mix, and use a moss pole to encourage larger, more lobed leaves
