Ficus lyrata is a fig (or Ficus), native to tropical Cameroon in Africa and is in the fig/mulberry family, Moraceae. The natural environment is hot, humid, and it rains often but lightly, while the sun dries up moisture quickly. They have giant green leaves with lots of cells that need lots of sunlight for food production.
The end all be all of trendy indoor plants, no stylish jungle is complete with a stunning Fiddle Leaf Fig tree beaming in a corner in a big beautiful planter. Notoriously fussy, they take a little more care than other Ficus plants when it comes to light and water.
PLANT CARE
• Light: Bright, indirect light - can tolerate early morning and late afternoon sun
• Water: Water when the top few centimeters of soil dries out and water consistently
• Considerations: Prune once the plant is over 1 meter tall to encourage branching
